About Our Speaker

Mrs. Ernestine J. Weems, a former Educator, has spent the last 36 years serving with the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc., and recently retired from the position of Executive Secretary. She is the proud mother of four children (one deceased); two daughters-in-law (in-love); seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Weems is Music Director for the Simpson Road Baptist Church where her late husband, Rev. O. Weems, served as Pastor for more than 30 years. The E. J. W. Inspirational Choir is named in her honor.

Mrs. Weems formerly served as Treasurer of the Woman’s Auxiliary of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., a position she held for fifteen years.

Mrs. Weems is a member of the NAACP, the SCLC and a sponsor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Foundation. She is also a member of the Atlanta Baptist Minister’s Wives Coterie and the International Association of Minister’s Wives and Widows Interdenominational.

Mrs. Weems, the recipient of numerous awards and citations for outstanding leadership and service finds her greatest satisfaction doing the deeds associated with Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
