About Rev. Fredrick A. Davis
Fredrick Amos Davis was born in Deland, Florida on July 11, 1956. He grew up in Ft. Lauderdale. He attended and graduated from the public school system of Broward County, Florida. Pastor Davis graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, earning a B.A. Degree (magna cum laude) in Philosophy and Religion. He continued his studies in the area of Philosophy and Theology at the Interdenominational Theological Center at Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, Georgia. Additionally, he graduated with honors in May 1980 with a Masters of Divinity Degree in Philosophy.
On September 11, 1977, at the New Mount Olive Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, (under the pastorate of George E. Weaver), Pastor Davis was licensed to preach as a Christian Minister, and was subsequently ordained by Pastor Weaver in 1981. Pastor Davis has worked in various fields of Ministry; including Campus Minister Intern, Georgia Tech University, Black Student Fellowship; Youth Minister, Antioch Baptist Church North, Atlanta, Georgia; Chaplain Intern - C.P.E., Tuskegee Veterans Administration Medical Center, Tuskegee, Alabama; Pastor, St. John Baptist Church, Lanett, Alabama; and Associate Pastor/Administrator, First Missionary Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama.
Pastor Davis has served as Pastor to First Calvary Baptist Church, Durham, North Carolina since June 1991. With a heart for the community, First Calvary serves the local area in various ways, including a Food Pantry, clothing giveaway, dental clinics, etc. In 1993, in order to address challenges facing the West End Community, Pastor Davis formed a non-profit organization, Calvary Ministries of the West End Community, Inc. Calvary Ministries was conceived through a vision arising out of First Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Davis serves as the organization’s Chairman.
Pastor Davis has been a guest Revivalist in almost 25 states. He is the current Chairman of the Board for the Morehouse School of Religion at ITC and is a sitting member of the Board of Directors for the Interdenominational Theological Center, Atlanta Georgia. He is affiliated with the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., and its auxiliaries; the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina-General Board Member; the East Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Association, Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention and American Baptist Churches, USA. He is the outgoing President of the Ministers’ Council for ABCOTS. Additionally, he is currently serving his second four year term as a member of the Durham Public School Board.
Pastor Davis is married to Judith Hayes Davis and they have three sons, Fredrick Amos II, Jordan Emmanuel and John Daniel.
