Antioch Urban Ministries, Inc. (AUMI) was incorporated in 1991 as a non-profit, organization, serving as an advocate for the relief of the poor and disadvantaged. Through the design, development, and implementation of residential and human service programs, AUMI has become a viable force in bringing about social, economic, and political change for the homeless and indigent citizens of metropolitan Atlanta. AUMI continues to experience phenomenal growth in its response to the unmet needs of the poor and special needs populations of the homeless sector.



RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

The Madison House - a 128-unit affordable housing facility located in the heart of downtown Atlanta and provides housing for low-income individuals.

Matthew’s Place - a long term, transitional housing facility for persons living with HIV/AIDS. With the help of a grant through the city of Atlanta.

Luke’s Place - a Christian-based substance abuse recovery home for men; provides which houses men who arhave completed the 45-day program at the Land of Promise and are ready for the second phase of recovery.

Ruth’s Place - Christian-based residential services for adult women who are chemically dependent.

Lydia’s House - Christian-based, long-term residential substance abuse education for adult women who have stabilized in their recovery and are in need of a less-structured environment.

Job’s Christian Recovery - a Christian-based, long-term residential ministry for disabled men recovering from substance abuse.



HUMAN SERVICES MINISTRIES

Incarceration Intervention Program - The Incarceration Intervention Program provides an alternative to incarceration for men and women within the Judicial System and provides them with an opportunity to participate in a recovery program.

Dreaming Out Loud - The result of the collaborative efforts of Antioch Urban Ministries, Inc., and Burger King Corporation, with additional financial support from Northside Hospital; designed to expose youth at-risk to a more positive and productive lifestyle through group discussions, character development workshops, spiritual development, and recreational activities.

Computer Training Center - The Computer Lab is a joint venture between the EDS Corporation and AUMI. EDS has provided twelve complete computer workstations. Youth organizations, senior citizens, college students, and those seeking employment utilize the computer lab on a daily basis.

West End Medical Services – Antioch Urban Ministries and West End Medical Center joined forces to provide healthcare services to the residents and non-residents of AUMI. Over 400 persons received health care services in 2008.

Food Bank - In partnership with The Atlanta Community Food Bank, programs such as SNAP (State Nutritional Assistance Program), USDA, Atlanta Table, and Kids In Need, AUMI is able to assist families and individuals, some of whom are homeless, with food on a weekly and monthly basis.

Clothing Bank – Antioch’s Clothing Bank provides clothing for families and individuals who are in need. Clothing, household and furniture are donated by members of Antioch Baptist Church North, individuals, and other agencies/organizations.

Shelter Outreach - Twice a month, church service is held at the Salvation Army Mission and once a month, the 2nd Tuesday of each month, at the Atlanta Union Mission for Women.

FREAD (Free to Recover from the Evils of Alcohol and Drugs) support groups are held once a week. Men and women from the community, surrounding shelters, and transitional homes attend these support groups.

Hope Program (HIV/AIDS Prevention Education –The purpose of the HOPE Program is to offer individualized HIV/AIDS prevention, education, risk reduction intervention, and OraQuick testing to African-American heterosexual men and women and who are at high risk for or living with HIV/AIDS in Fulton County and surrounding areas. It is made possible through funding from the United Way and Atlanta AIDS Partnership.
