Our Pastor
The Reverend Kenneth Lamont Alexander, a resolute man of God, serves as the sixth pastor of the historic Antioch Baptist Church North. He is the son of the Reverend Dr. Cameron M. Alexander, who served as pastor for more than 49 years, and Dr. Barbara J. Alexander, who anchored their family and was a dynamic source of inspiration for the entire Antioch congregation.
Reverend Alexander, affectionately known at Antioch as Reverend Kenny, is a third-generation Baptist preacher and was licensed and ordained at the Antioch Baptist Church North. His powerful voice and servant leadership skills were cultivated, honed and nurtured at Antioch. During his more than 50 years of membership, before becoming pastor, he served in a variety of leadership positions, including President of the Minister’s Alliance, Presiding Minister of the Antioch Lakewood Mission for more than 20 years, Assistant to the Pastor and Co-pastor.
Following his consecration as pastor of Antioch Baptist Church North on Sunday, March 31, 2019, Reverend Alexander has remained steadfast to the pastorate, delivering messages of hope, encouragement, and redemption to all of God’s people. His visionary leadership has led to the implementation of several major ministry and Antioch campus renovation projects. With strength, courage and transparency, Reverend Alexander has addressed some of life’s most pressing challenges through his preaching, teaching and counseling. Focusing on the health and well-being of the congregation at a time when high blood pressure, diabetes, and other illnesses plague our community, Pastor Alexander co-led our first 40-Day Turn Up in partnership with the founder of the program, Dr. Joseph Williams. The impact of the biblically based program in which 135 members participated was a total of 2035 pounds lost.
Reverend Alexander has demonstrated an unprecedented measure of leadership in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He made the decision to be one of the first churches to suspend in-person worship services and move to virtual services, launching Antioch Baptist Church North Network (ABCNN) led by a production team dedicated to keeping the church family and friends connected. Sunday Worship Service, Youth-in-Action Sunday, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Wednesday night Bible Study, Thursday night Bible classes, daily Morning Devotion and Noonday Service and various ministry activities are offered on a variety of virtual platforms. He also arranged the church’s first virtual revival. To ensure that Antioch and the services provided through Antioch Urban Ministries, Inc. (AUMI) are compliant to COVID-19 guidelines, Reverend Alexander established the COVID-19 Taskforce, a team of medical professionals and church leaders charged with providing recommendations, counsel and strategy for managing essential operations. The COVID-19 Taskforce is also monitoring all data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as state and local guidelines.
Pivotal to his discipleship is uplifting those who are all too often counted among the least, the less and the lost. He demonstrates his conviction to God’s calling through his perseverance, tenacity and the zeal with which he carries out God’s directives given in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
Reverend Alexander is the Chairman of the Board of the nationally acclaimed Antioch Urban Ministries, Inc. (AUMI), the umbrella non-profit that manages and operates most of the Antioch outreach ministries. AUMI serves as an advocacy agent providing essential supports to families in need and comprehensive substance abuse recovery services.
